Also known as Migratory Grey hamsters, or Gray Hamsters. Native to the mountainous country located between The Black Sea and The Caspian Sea.
Closely related to the Syrian hamster, The Armenian Hamster (cricetulus migratorius) was introduced in 1963 as a labratory animal. The Armenian hamster was chosen because of its susceptibility to mutagenic and carcinogenic agents and for studying meiosis.
